Current Update in Basic Research in Korea: Prostate Cancer

ABSTRACT
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in western countries and the leading cause of death. The incidence of prostate cancer increased in low risk East-Asia, and prostate cancer has been increased rapidly in Korea. There have been many clinical studies about incidence, natural history, treatments, perioperative complications, biochemical recurrence, and metastasis of prostate cancer in Korea, but several basic studies about prostate cancer were conducted by urologist. Recently, urologists have a growing interest about basic research of prostate cancer due to different reasons. Herein, we review the current update in basic research in Korea: prostate cancer during 5 years.(Korean J Urol Oncol 2013;11:63-70)
